LEE VINSEL, Stevens Institute of Technology: "Elevator Shafts and Rocket Sleds, or How the Military-Academic-Industrial Complex Built Ralph Nader's Ammunition."

Military doctors strapped themselves to rocket sleds, which sped at 600 miles per hour through deserts of the US Southwest. Professors in Detroit dropped cadavers down elevators and smashed hammers on drugged dogs' skulls. And the knowledge they produced was used to found a consumer safety revolution.
